Are you stuck inside this weekend due to the weather or are you just taking it easy and enjoying the couple of days off from work? Do you have a kitty who loves to play but gets bored easily? Whichever category you fall under – this post is for you. I wanted to share this quick video of three simple DIY ideas that anyone, crafty or not, can make for their furbaby. Toilet paper rolls, construction paper, tape, and treats for one toy, yarn, scissors, and knot tying skills for another, and fabric with those same scissors for the third. Nothing hard and can be made with items lying around your house. Tell me about your cat toys below – I’d love to hear about them!
You get up in the morning, get ready for the day. Maybe drink some coffee or tea or maybe you’re an OJ kind of person. Shower, get dressed, put on your shoes. Whatever your morning routine may be – we all feel guilty leaving our furbabies home when we leave the house. Am I right? Good news! I found a list of nine of the best toys to buy for your kitty in 2019 so they won’t be bored while you’re away.* Excitement guaranteed. From sushi cat toys to the FUNKitty Egg Cersizer Interactive Toy and Food Dispenser, your feline friend will be happy when you walk out that door.
*In no way am I selling the aforementioned products nor am I receiving any commissions or rewards from the marketer. I am simply recommending these products because they look interesting.
Is there a cat underneath all of that hair? You know, I asked myself the same thing when I first saw this picture. Named Colonel Meow, this Himalayan-Persian mix held the Guinness World Record for a cat with the longest fur back in 2014 with fur strands averaging nine inches in length! One of his favorite pastimes is sitting atop his cat castle and watch the world go by below him.
Interested in learning more about the late furry feline? No worries, he still has his own website, Facebook page and YouTube channel! Watch this video about Colonel Meow and who he was as a cat.
Guinness World Record today. World Domination tomorrow.
19 years ago, photographer Miyoko Ihara began taking photos of the extraordinary relationship between her elderly grandmother, Misao, and her tiny kitten, Fukumaru. Over 12 years of memories are captured in the photo book, Misao the Big Mama and Fukumaru the Cat, documented by her granddaughter. The best seller portrays the extraordinary friendship between the two in their everyday lives – farming the land, cooking, or simply relaxing.
Misao rescued her odd-eyed white cat back in 2003 when she found her abandoned in a shed. Fukumaru, which means “good fortune” and “circle” has heterochromia. Heterochromia, which means different (hetero) colors (chromia), is used to describe the condition where a person or animal have different colored eyes. This condition is popular among certain cat breeds such as the Turkish Van, Turkish angora, Japanese bobtail and Sphynx. See more fun adventures of these two and their pawesome companionship.
Have you joined the world of cat owners? What took you so long?! Sure, you’re excited about the new fluffy addition to your family (and I am too) but did you know that you might want to invest in pet insurance or that cats really aren’t as independent as you may think? And what’s the deal with catnip or what kind of litter box should you buy? What about allergies? Believe it or not these felines are more than just a cute, soft, purring companion—they can take some work and much TLC. Read more about the important things you should know before you bring your new fur baby home.
