If you’re like Jeff Lyons and are able to work from home during these trying times…and own a cat, then you can totally relate to this feel-good story. The WFIE’s 14 News team meteorologist has hired on a new co-host while abiding by the stay at home orders put into place. Who is his new co-host you ask? Well, it’s none other than his cat, Betty. You heard me right. Ever since Jeff started broadcasting his weather reports straight from his own living room (with the help of a green screen), Betty, now known as Betty the Weather Cat, has been helping her dad out.
This furry feline sure does like the spotlight though, as seen in this article chock full of warm fuzzy videos of Betty and her furdad forecasting the weather. It definitely looks like this now famous kitty is loving the newfound attention!
I received a handwritten note from a friend recently on this adorable little notecard. Just hearing from her made my day but what was even more special is how well she knew me. This tiny notecard had a tiny cat amongst a plethora of donuts. Super cute and brought a smile to my face. Handwritten notes are a perfect way to just say “Hey” or “I’m thinking about you” but when you throw that extra little detail in that says, “I know you. I know you love cats. I know this card with a tiny cat on it will make your day” – that’s what makes all the difference.
I had to know who made these cards so that I could purchase some to send to other cat lovers in my circle. Wouldn’t you be surprised that the company calls themselves Tiny Cat*. You can view their notecards here if you are interested. Let’s fill the mailboxes of friends around us today!
* In no way am I selling the aforementioned products nor am I receiving any commissions or rewards from the marketers. I am simply recommending this little cute card to encourage my followers to bring a smile to other’s faces.
Hi fellow cat lovers,
I wanted to take a minute and send you all safe and healthy vibes as we are going through this trying time. Please know that each and every one of you and your furbabies are in my thoughts. With that said, I wanted to share a few sites that might ease your stress and provide some peace of mind when it comes to the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) and your feline friends.
Per the ASPCA, “There have been no reports of pets or livestock becoming ill or spreading the coronavirus in the U.S.” Some things you can do now to keep your kitties safe during the foreseeable future (and beyond):
- Continue to wash your hands for at least 20 seconds
- Stock up on pet supplies and pet medication
- Designate a emergency pet caregiver
- Create a pet emergency kit
As for the American Veterinary Medical Association, they answer some of the most frequently asked questions such as:
- Can I still take my pet to the vet?
- Is testing for SARS-CoV-2 available for animals in the United States?
- What should I do to prepare for my pet’s care in the event I do become ill?
Please stay safe out there and exercise self-responsibility and spatial distancing when possible. We’re in this together!
Since originating in Taiwan in 1998, Cat Cafés have taken off! Spreading through Europe and now the United States, this pet-friendly concept is the purrfect idea for those who are thinking about adding a new furbaby to their family.
The Kitty Beautiful, a Cat Café located in downtown Orlando, opened its doors in November 2019 and offers two different sides. One side is your place for all things liquid- and food-related and the other side is…wait for it…a room full of cats waiting to be adopted. The idea behind this type of business is to bring folks in who are interested in adopting a kitty and have them interact with potential cats looking for their furever homes.
If spending hours with feline furbabies is not enough, this café also offers weekly events to include cat yoga, cats against humanity, and trivia. As a cat lover, what more could you ask for?
