Meet Lil Bub

July 13, 2018 by Patricia Dugan Leave a Comment

Lil Bub, who was the runt of her feral litter, is considered a “perma-kitten,” meaning she will always have kitten-like features no matter how old she gets. She is also a dwarf, meaning her limbs are disproportionately small relative to the rest of her body. And she doesn’t have any teeth but that doesn’t stop her from having a healthy appetite for both dry and wet food. Despite all of these issues, she hasn’t let any of them stand in her way. Lil Bub is a published author, a talk show host, the star of an award winning documentary, has helped to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for special needs pets via the ASPCA, has an album and apparel line, and even an upcoming video game! So while it might sound like this kitty has gone through a lot, and don’t get me wrong – she has, Lil Bub is a fighter and will always land on her paws with the help of her “dude”, Mike! Read this article to see how electromagnets ultimately saved her life.

One Green Eye, One Blue

June 15, 2018 by Patricia Dugan Leave a Comment

Venus isn’t just a cat. Nope, she is a cat with very special characteristics. Characteristics that have nicknamed her “Two-Faced”. But in a good way as Venus’s face is half orange tabby and half black, with one green eye and one blue eye. Never have I seen a more beautiful cat – just take a look! It’s still a mystery as to how she has these traits – some say she has different DNA on each side of her body, a chimera. What do you think?!

Dusty the Cat Burglar

March 27, 2018 by Patricia Dugan Leave a Comment

Meet Dusty a.k.a. Klepto Kitty. I just can’t stop giggling over this story – it’ll definitely put a smile on your face. And even some of you might be able to relate to past experiences with your own fur babies. Dusty’s owners say that in the past three years he has stolen over 600 items, with 11 in just one night! Caught in the act Dusty has been seen taking toys, clothes, shoes – you name it, he has probably claimed it as his own. His favorite though are bathing suits left out to dry on the clothesline. He makes his move at night when everyone is asleep but rest assured your stuff will be safe with Dusty. Too cute not to share!

Talented Didga Enters Guinness World Records 2017

January 24, 2018 by Patricia Dugan Leave a Comment

I’d like to introduce you to a feline who has reached new records among the cat world, Guinness World Records to be exact. Meet Didga, short for Didgeridoo, the adorable kitty who set the record last year for most tricks performed by a cat in one minute. She broke records when she successfully completed 20 tricks, back-to-back, placing her in the famous Guinness Book of World Records for 2017. If you were wondering, her tricks range from rolling over to jumping over a bar while riding on a skateboard. However, when she’s not competing Didga enjoys spending time with her fur-dad, Robert, and eating her favorite food – raw kangaroo mince. Yum! But can she beat her record in 2018? Exciting News! Didga’s on par for breaking her current record of 20 tricks in one minute as she was able to complete 24 tricks earlier this year. Let’s cheer her on for 2018!

Ernest Hemingway’s Cats Survive Irma

September 13, 2017 by Patricia Dugan Leave a Comment

When Ernest Hemingway was alive, he owned a white polydactyl cat. Polydactyl cats are cats born with a congenital physical anomaly that causes it to be born with more than the usual number of toes on one or more of its paws. A unique characteristic to say the least!

There are now 54 cats in total that live at the Ernest Hemingway Home and Museum in Key West, FL, many of whom are descendants of the one owned by Ernest himself. With Hurricane Irma slamming the Keys with her powerful winds and rain, animal lovers from all over worried about the cats. But thanks to the general manager, the house’s curator, and a few employees, all 54 cats survived the storm, safe and sound, within the walls of the Hemingway home. Read the full story here.
