Right outside the Shinjuku subway station, in Tokyo, Japan – is a new sight that people there are welcoming. Every 10 seconds a giant cat appears on a 26-by-62-foot LED screen. The idea was created due to COVID, to bring a little happiness to people during what was a dark time in Japan.
A spokesman for the Japanese company Unika, Takayuki Ohkawa, said, “There are many reasons we decided to display the cat, but one of the big reasons is that with corona, the world became very dark,” he said. “Through the cat display, we wanted to revive Shinjuku and make it brighter.”
