Did you know that March 28th was a holiday? Yep, it was Respect Your Cat Day! And an article in the New York Times makes it very clear as to why we should hold our feline friends in such high regard.
The author points out that kitties don’t really need to be given verbal compliments or snuggles, since many actually don’t like the sound of human voices or the smell of perfume.
“It’s time to open our eyes — like really, really wide, the way my sister’s cat does when it spies the vacuum cleaner — and see this animal for what it really is: not a helpless furball to be patronized and mollycoddled, but an entity both fearsome and sublime, commanding respect in the manner of a mafia don, or the ocean,” writes Abigail Tucker.
Cats really are powerful creatures when you think about it, right?
